Its called "The Tower Of The Sun" and is more than just a large sculpture, its actually got a full on interior and everything. The interior contains a bunch of animatronic animals (made by the jap that did the effects for godzilla) that rest on a 42 meter tree known as the tree of life.

There are three faces on the building, the golden top face represents future, the white face in the front center represents present, and the black face on the back represents past.

The building was created for the 1970's world fair in japan, which was an event that was set up to promote peace throughout the world or something like that (ironic, considering its the japs we're talking about).

the japs have a forest at the base of mount fuji where people go to commit suicide all the time

i remember watching an independent film/documentary about it, and while filming, they ran into a body who recently passed away, hanging from a tree, which was disturbing
